Well, Saturday night was cruise night in Orange, VA. Every third Saturday in the warm months, the Burger King in Orange is a pretty nice place to be. Mudbone, Jr. and I had planned to take our cars, but after an afternoon of post-hole digging at church, he and a friend decided to take a cooler down to the river instead. I was bummed, but I can't say I blamed him. It was a hot day. My daughter said she wanted to go with me to the car show, so I checked in with Mrs. Mudbone to see if she wanted...

What’s in a name?

Mudbone, Jr. offered up a good suggestion a few weeks ago, while we where sitting around in the garage. He said, “Dad, we need to name our cars something cool.” I think that’s a great idea. He told me about a guy with two hot rods – one black and one red. The guy named them Veronica and Archie, which sounds totally cool to me.

I have owned three metallic green vehicles in my life. The first was a 1979 GMC 4x4 pickup, that I got new back when I was farming. I kept that truck...

Well, I had the best intentions to keep uo with this blog this summer, but life has gotten in the way. I'll promise to try to do better. (Notice, I said try!)

Last Weekend, Mudbone, Jr. and I went to Carlisle and had a great time. He drove most of the way up and all the way home. About halfway home, he remarked "This car is SOOO fun to drive." He really wants a 4th-gen of his own, now. (We'll see.)

We both were amazed at the number of 5th-gens at Carlisle....

Now I know how Jason and Chris feel on "slow news" weeks

Posted 03-01-2009 at 11:36 AM by mudbone
Well, the title of this says it all. Business is very slow and I spend most of this week trying to scour up work for our survey crews. In case anyone didn't notice, we are in a bit of a slowdown on the housing market -- which has really put a kink in our workload.

I am one of four owners of a civil engineering and survey firm located in Fredericksburg, VA. This takes quite a bit of my time, but I have been determined over the last 5-10 years to be intentionally balanced in my business-family-personal-spiritual...

Listening to the podcast this week, I heard Chris mention the blog as a way to expand the site into other areas. I have NEVER blogged in my life, but I do like to write (when I'm not leaving voice mails for the podcast).

Anyway, I thought about what I might blog and came up with this idea -- keeping a regular journal about my 1997 30th Anniversary convertible. I plan to attempt to create at least a weekly entry dealing with some aspect of me and my car's life together. It will...
